Like jerky, but better.

Never heard of biltong? It's like jerky, but we naturally preserve our meat just as our ancestors did with no added nitrates or nitrites (carcinogenic preservatives). We also don't use cheap fillers like maltodextrin or hydrolysed vegetable proteins (high in MSG). Most jerky is surprisingly high in sugar (upwards of 25%!) but our biltong has next to no sugar or carbs. And because our biltong is slow dried it's much more tender than jerky and retains over 90% of heat sensitive vitamins such as B12. Better is an understatement.

Better for you.

Low sugar and made from 100% organic grass-fed Aussie beef which is up to five times higher in healthy omega-3s. Slow dried rather than cooked means it's higher in heat sensitive vitamins like B12.

Nature's original protein.

The beef in our biltong contains all essential amino acids and are much easier for your body to digest that other processed protein sources, which results in superior protein utilisation.

No nasty preservatives.

We reinvented an ancient drying process to naturally preserve our biltong just as our ancestors did, with no added nasties like nitrates or nitrites. They'll last at least 5 months on the shelf without refrigeration.

Better for the planet.

Grass-fed beef is significantly better for the environment than grain-fed, particularly regeneratively farmed cattle which are a critical part of creating healthy soils and helping to reverse climate change.

Better for the animals.

Most beef comes from industrial feedlots where animals are kept in confined stalls and fattened with grains. We source our beef from family owned organic farms where cattle forage freely all year round.

Real food, fills you up.

Other snacks leave you craving more nutrition because they typically use artificial thickeners, fillers, sweeteners and sugar alcohols, or are too high in sugar. Our biltong is made from real food that squashes your hunger.

Organic Grass-fed Beef (92%), coconut aminos, vinegar, salt, chilli, spices. Made in Australia from at least 95% Australian ingredients.

Spices include coriander and pepper. No garlic or onions.

All our beef comes from family farms in and around Australia’s Lake Eyre Basin. For millions of years countless floods have deposited rich nutrients to create vast, fertile outback floodplains that are unsuitable for growing crops but perfect for beef.

Cattle follow their natural instincts to roam across millions of hectares of certified organic grasslands. With minimal human interaction, they forage freely all year round on seasonally changing native grasses, herbs and succulents. The beef is completely free from added chemicals, antibiotics, GMOs or added hormones.

How is this biltong different?

Our biltong is naturally preserved with no added nitrates or nitrites (carcinogenic preservatives) and has next to no sugar or carbs. We also don't use cheap fillers like maltodextrin (which spikes blood sugar and suppresses the growth of probiotics in your gut) or hydrolysed corn protein (high MSG). And, because our biltong is slow dried rather than cooked, it's much more tender and retains over 90% of heat sensitive vitamins such as B12.

Is red meat good for you?

Yes! In recent years, there have been claims that red meat is unhealthy, scaring many people into giving up their much-loved steak in an attempt to be healthier. Little do they know, this might not be the healthiest choice, especially given that Iron deficiency is one of the most widespread nutritional disorders in the world.

Iron and vitamin B12 insufficiency are on the rise, particularly affecting young women. Yes, plant sources can contain Iron (even though the bio-availability and absorption are not as strong), however vitamin B12 can only be found in foods derived from animal sources. Both Iron and Vitamin B12 are essential for your health, playing an important role in both your energy levels and metabolism. Furthermore, red meat is a complete and high source of protein that is easy to digest and contains all of the essential amino acids that you need for good health and physical performance.

The World Health Organisation has stated that the consumption of PROCESSED meat contributes to colon cancer. Processed meat includes things like sausages, bacon and deli meats. They are not talking about a good quality steak, or Chief Bar made from top quality grass-fed meat with no nitrites or harmful chemicals.

Most studies were conducted using people who may not be particularly health conscious or savvy. As Westerners, we tend to overeat red meat, averaging about four times per day! The average consumer buys their meat in a supermarket, because it’s cheaper, not realising that the steak is usually grain fed thus containing more inflammatory Omega 6 fatty acids! In Western society, a popular way to consume meat is to char-grill it, usually with the help of harmful hydrogenated vegetable oils, then add a dollop of sugary sauce, a side of fries and a schooner of beer. In this scenario, it’s hard to tell whether cancer is caused by the meat consumption specifically or by excessive consumption of alcohol, hydrogenated oils, chemicals and additives, a sedentary lifestyle or a combination of all these factors.

Red meat is healthy when enjoyed in small amounts. Similar to dark chocolate, one square a day is healthy; a whole block a day is a ‘nutritional disaster’.

What type of meat do you use?

All our meat is 100% organic, grass-fed, grass-finished, added hormone free, antibiotic free and ethically raised. We source our beef from family owned organic farms in QLD, Australia where cattle forage freely all year round.

How long does it last for?

The bars last for up to 5 months without refrigeration.

Where is it made?

Our biltong is made in Sydney, NSW Australia.

Who is it designed for?
